December 17
HOLMER
At our Christmas meeting held at the beginning of December , members enjoyed a Christmas quiz compiled by Talia Wheeler and Shell Roos, a performance of one of our Cogan Cup entries 'Pets' by members of the drama group , a festive Bring and Buy as well as a Christmas buffet, the centrepiece of which was a delicious Christmas cake baked by Frances Riddell.
The photo shows Sue Howells , committee member and Holmer group leader ,demonstrating the techniques required to make Dorset buttons to member Raj Papps at a craft evening held earlier in the year at our WI.
Holmer WI will next meet on Wednesday 3rd January at St. Marys church, Grandstand Road at 7.30pm. The speaker will be Maureen Williams and her subject, Hedgehog Rescue. Ladies , come along and join us to find out more about this prickly subject!
The Committee and members would like to take this opportunity to extend Compliments of the Season to you all and wish you all a happy, healthy 2018.

MUCH COWARNE
Much Cowarne WI held their December meeting at The Plough,Stoke Lacy. This was pre arranged to enable us to have our celebratory Christmas Party in style without the usual kitchen duties, this I am sure was appreciated by all our members as their were clean plates and smiles all round. Presents and cards were distributed in the usual manner as is traditional at this time of year.We now look forward to 2018 starting with our fund raising coffee morning on January 12th at Stoke Lacy village hall, 10.30 to 12.00 noon, please do join us for cakes and coffee if in the area.
WEOBLEY
The newly elected 2018 committee for WEOBLEY WI had an evening out in December. Judging by the camaraderie shown, they are going to be a great team! Our Annual Meeting was very enjoyable, with soup on arrival and delicious cakes after the business side had been attended to. One of our members, Vanessa, shared hilarious but at times hair-raising stories of her life in the Police Force. Thanks to Alison Lord for guiding us through the election process, we should know what we are doing by next year!
SPARKLING WYE
Sparkling Wye's December meeting began with Alison Palfrey, from Breast Cancer Haven Hereford, their charity of the year, being presented with a cheque for £565, by ex president Chris and the new officers - see photo. Alison then thanked everyone for the donation and explained a bit about what had been happening in the charity during the past year.
Next was a skittles match, the teams (imaginatively named teams A and B) were announced. People seemed to enjoy the game, despite varying levels of skill, and Team B won. Meanwhile, there were fun Christmas Dingbat puzzles and a cryptic Christmas singers quiz for everyone to work on while awaiting their turns, kindly put together by Karen.
This was followed by a buffet, coffee and mince pies and a secret Santa raffle, in which there was a gift for everyone. A lively, fun meeting to end the year.
WYE WOMEN
Wye Women celebrated a very successful year with a Christmas party held at the Courtyard restaurant. A great evening when we were able to thank our past President, Treasurer and Vice Treasurer for all their past contribution to Wye Women. A delicious buffet was enjoyed by all followed by a Christmas Carol themed quiz. Here we are puzzling over the quiz helped by a glass of vino !
